- March 21, 2008. This is a chance to hit the killbuyers where they live.... we have time to plan, and time to fundraise.
We will need funds, places for quarantine, places for horses to go, and transport.... This auction is well known for its direct to slaughter sale, (held in the back at 9 am) along with a myriad of kill buyers in attendance, looking to fill their loads with those unfortunate souls who sell cheaply enough through the regular ring for them to profit from their flesh..... this is chronicled on the Animals Angels website - one unfortunate load that went from Shipshewana to Canada. If any one is looking for a horse, please let us know.... we can probably find you one. There will be a wide variety of horses available - at many different prices. There is a dealer who brings gaited horses up from Tennessee, and many breeders who bring the ones they haven't sold to "make room for the new crop" - bred mares, exotics, and ponies & minis. It's one of the two HUGE sales held there annually.
It would be nice to have a concentrated effort, and get as many people involved as possible.
Just want to know..... anybody out there that can help????
